Cheryn Tan
Contradiction is a theme inherent in human life that has always fascinated me. Take, for example, the fact that I am a passionate lover of words, yet I often find it difficult to express the simplest thoughts with succinct phrases. Yes, I am a self-confessed rambler, and more than that, a dreamer.
On to more mundane side of things, I have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism from University of Queensland. I am also a holder of a Diploma in Communication from Taylor's College Malaysia.
Besides paper qualifications, I have completed internships at several media organisations in Australia and Malaysia, including The Queensland Times, the Indesign magazine group, theSun and New Straits Times. Through these placements I learnt to my dismay that having a way with words was only the tip of the journalism iceberg - but it has also equipped me with invaluable insights into the art of mass media writing.
Being a journalist means that I am constantly exposed to exciting new challenges, new people, and most of all, new knowledge. Combined with the fact that I am naturally a nosy parker who views people-watching as a technique, basically I have stories gushing out of every pore...
